Featured as the home of the Corleone family in the original “Godfather” movie, this stately Tudor mansion in Staten Island, NY, hit the market almost a month ago.
Listed for $2.895 million, the home offers over 6,200 square feet of living space with five bedrooms and multiple bathrooms.
It also provided the opportunity to reference the intersection of the movie’s most famous line and the world of real estate. Most of the media coverage of the listing made mention of making an offer and the possibility of refusal of said offer:
- “How much is an offer you can’t refuse?” asked CNNMoney.
- ” … You know what kind of offer to make,” said MarketWatch.
- “Consider making an offer the owner can’t refuse … ” suggested the Washington Post.
- ” … for those looking to snag a piece of American cinematic history, it’d be best to ‘make him an offer he can’t refuse’,” quipped People.
- “A real estate offer you can’t refuse … ” offered Time.
Offers and clichés aside, the Staten Island Advance delves into the history of the home, tracing its ownership over the years and the many upgrades made to the home since Academy Award-winning director, producer and screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola used it as the exterior for his 1972 classic.
Reuters also reported that the “current owner has remodeled the interior to make some rooms look like replicas of the decor in several of the movie’s scenes.”
